italki有來自全球200多個國家的1000多位外教，用Skype 在線一對一的教授語言課程，涵蓋100多種語言。教師分為專業(yè)教師和社區(qū)輔導(dǎo)兩種。專業(yè)教師全部持有專業(yè)教師資格證書，有的甚至是國外本地大學(xué)的語言學(xué)教授，并具有相應(yīng)的專業(yè)教學(xué)經(jīng)驗。社區(qū)輔導(dǎo)老師以輔導(dǎo)和練習(xí)口語為主，相對專業(yè)老師收費較為便宜很多。

語言交換

會員可以通過語言學(xué)習(xí)需求，搜索外國會員結(jié)成語言交換伙伴，和來自母語國家的會員交流練習(xí)，通過操練來獲得流利、地道的語言技能，并擴(kuò)大國際社交網(wǎng)絡(luò)。

問答

會員可以在問答版發(fā)布和語言學(xué)習(xí)相關(guān)的問題，其他會員（特別是母語國家會員）會就目標(biāo)語言問題免費解答，同時任何會員都可以回答其他會員提出的學(xué)習(xí)相關(guān)的問題。

英文功能

italki

is an education technology website that helps foreign learners connect with online teachers and native-speaking language partners. italki users are able to search for a freelance teacher, schedule and pay for language lessons. italki teachers are able to create a profile, and build a personal reputation.

Concept

italki has features to support synchronous language learning. Membership on italki is free, but registration is required to contact other members. Payment is required to schedule lessons with online teachers.

Teacher Marketplace

Paying users on italki are able to take lessons from freelance online teachers. Teachers on italki are designed as "professional teachers" or "community tutors", the former having professional teaching experience or certifications. Both types of teachers are able to create a teacher profile, and set their own rates for payment.

As teachers conclude lessons, they receive feedback and ratings from italki students.

Most lessons take place on Skype or other VOIP systems. italki charges a 15% service fee for successful lesson transactions.

Social Language Learning

italki users are able to make friends for language exchange, ask questions about language learning, write essays and receive corrections, and enter into language discussions. These features depend on responses from native speakers that are also members of the italki community.

Development

italki was founded by American and Chinese entrepreneurs in 2007. italki is officially registered in Hong Kong, and there is a development center in Shanghai, China

In August 2012, italki completed an round of financing for an undisclosed amount from angel investors.
